Eligibility Requirements
- Must hold an offer for an eligible undergraduate course at the University of Sheffield.
- Applicants must pay the overseas tuition fee, be self-funded, and not be sponsored.
- Exclusions: Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200) programs are not eligible.
- Only students entering directly into Year 1 or Year 2 of their program are considered eligible.
- March programs are excluded as they are considered postgraduate.

Admission Requirement
- English Language and Mathematics Requirements: Command in English, both written and spoken, usually presented by at least grade 4 or grade C in GCSE English Language or an comparable qualification. Some courses may have more elevated English requirements or additional GCSE conditions (e.g., Mathematics), described in the course entry requirements in the online prospectus.
- Accepted Qualifications: Applications are welcome from students with a variety of UK, European, and international Level 3 or equivalent qualifications. Specific qualifications include A Levels, Other UK-recognized qualification, Recognized EU and international qualifications Course-specific entry requirements and grades are available in the online undergraduate prospectus.
- Foundation Year Courses: Science and Engineering Foundation Year: For students requiring science preparation for certain engineering and science courses. Lifelong Learning Foundation Courses: For students with non-standard qualifications, vast education gaps, or disrupted studies, covering different subjects.
- International Pathway Programmes: International students can complete an International Foundation Year at Sheffield International College to progress to an undergraduate degree.
- General Entry Requirement: All applicants must demonstrate the ability to pursue high-level academic study suitable for achieving a degree.
Selection Process
- A panel will examine applications based on academic excellence, extra-curricular achievements, and applicability to future goals.
- Only one award per student, though applicants can be considered for multiple scholarships.
Applicants should note that the International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship 2025 cannot be combined with any of the following scholarships:

Award Criteria
- The scholarship provides a tuition discount only, which is not applicable during industrial placements or study abroad years.
- Renewal is possible for up to 4 academic years, contingent on performing 60% or higher and meeting credit essentials.
- Recipients cannot merge this scholarship with other University merit scholarships but may merge it with specific departmental awards.
Conditions of Award
- Students who delay entry, modify programs after Level 1, enter through clearing, or fail entry conditions will lose eligibility.
- Part-time students obtain a prorated scholarship amount.
- The University of Sheffield will inform successful applicants and order confirmation of acceptance by a specified date.
