The “SWATI” (Science for Women: A Technology and Innovation) Portal, dedicated to showcasing the contributions of Indian Women in Science, was officially announced by Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary of DBT and DST, on October 25, 2021, at NIPGR.
The “Science for Women: A Technology and Innovation” (SWATI) Portal is set to go global, and invite you to be part of this milestone! SWATI portal full form is Science for Women: A Technology and Innovation. The event was take place at the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi.
To celebrate the various contributions of Women in Science (WiS), Dr. Renu Swarup, the then Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), announced the launch of an online portal dedicated to women scientists supported by DBT. This portal, named SWATI (Science for Women: A Technology and Innovation Portal), was developed by the NIPGR HRD Cell.

Who launched the SWATI Portal?
On the occasion of the International Day of Girls and Women in Science (February 11), a new portal named SWATI was launched by Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, during a day-long event held at the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi.

SWATI Portal Purpose
The SWATI portal aspires to showcase the expertise and accomplishments of Indian women in science, commemorating the 75th year of India’s Independence as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
In 2022, the portal’s scope was expanded under the Inter-Academy Panel (IAP) of Indian science academies to include all Indian women in STEM fields, widening its reach and impact.

We encourage all women in STEM (who have studied or worked in India at any point) to join the SWATI Portal. Joining is quick and easy—simply scan the QR code or click the link below. It takes just a few minutes.
Who can join the SWATI Portal?
The portal is designed to include all Indian women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine), transiting a wide range of roles. This includes graduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, post-doctoral researchers, administrative staff, scientists, science communicators, academic faculty, entrepreneurs, technical officers, and lab technicians.
Women working abroad are also welcome to join, provided they have studied STEMM subjects in India at some stage of their education. Further, unemployed or independent Indian women who have previously studied STEMM subjects in India are especially encouraged to register on the portal.

All women scientists, post-doctoral researchers, project fellows, and students who are currently studying or working in India, or have done so in the past can fill this google form to join the SWATI. This portal is meant for to represent all the girls and the women’s in STEM of INDIA.
