Benefits of AU Global Leader Scholarship 2025
- The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship provides two international students in requiring a non-immigrant visa (F-1 or J-1) including full tuition, housing, and board.
- This scholarship can be renewed for a maximum of four years, provided that the recipient maintains a satisfactory Score.
- Furthermore, there are eight more partial scholarships offered by AU EGL, with a total annual value of up to $40,000.
What is the eligibility criteria for AU Global Leader Scholarship 2025
Applicants are required to be enrolled in secondary or high school and expected to graduate by June 2025.
Candidates that fulfill the following requirements will be given preference:
- International background :Students from various and underrepresented cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as those who have overcome significant hurdles and challenges.
- Leadership and Service: An exhibited dedication to community service, leadership, volunteerism, and meeting the needs of people in their own nation
- Academic Prominence: A GPA of at least 3.8 (out of 4.0) or placement in the top 10% of their class upon graduation from grades 9 through 12
- English proficiency: Achieving a score on one of the following tests.

Present-day Learners: enrolled in and set to graduate from secondary/high school in June 2025.
Essential:
- IB students should try to complete their IB diploma, which should include at least three HL topics.
- By August 2025, British A-Level students will have completed 13 years of study and at least three A levels.
How to apply for AU Global Leader Scholarship Application?
Application submission:
By December 1, 2024, complete and submit the Coalition Application or Common Application with all necessary supporting documentation, following the guidelines in the AU international instructions checklist.
Financial Records:
Submit in the AU Declaration of Finances Form (AU DFF) together with a bank note attesting to the minimum of US$4,000. These can be emailed as PDF attachments to admissionsdocuments@american.edu or uploaded through your applicant site. Browse bank letter samples.
Proficiency in English:
By December 1, 2024, turn in your official scores from the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, Duolingo English, or Cambridge Assessment English tests. Require that the testing institution submit the official score reports to American University’s Undergraduate Admissions office in Washington, DC. Note: Results submitted by students are not accepted.
Complete Application The package:
Ensure that your application materials is complete and submitted in by the deadline, along with any necessary supporting documentation. Applications that are not comprehensive will not be examined.
Additional Document Information:
A letter certifying your candidacy from the adviser at your Education USA center is required if you are applying through one of the organization’s approved programs or if you have previously received a FLEX or YES high school scholarship from the U.S. Department of State. Attach the letter as a PDF to levinson@american.edu.
Admission Consideration:
You may still receive consideration for admission to American University and be qualified for partial merit scholarships even if you are not selected as one of the finalists. In order to proceed with the application procedure, you must provide evidence of finances up to US$81,620(estimated expenditures for the first year of study) in order to proceed with the application process.
Interviews and Supplementary Essays:
Finalists and semi-finalists for the AU EGL will have to send more essays or take part in Zoom interviews.
